I can use the whole experience of learning about the new technologies in 23 things program to help me with my library job. It has forced me to "get with it" in the sense of learning about things that I had no interest in or was resistant to. Basically I think that being creative and lateral thinking is the way to go with these new information tools in order to improve our knowledge and expertise in providing a better , relevant library service to users. The library can use many of the technologies to communicate with its users to a greater and deeper level as many libraries around the world are doing already. One great thing about this is the collaborative aspect of between other libraries in coming up with new ideas and practices which improve service.
The 23 Things program could be improved further if people were encouraged more to help each other out. I didn't feel this really happeneed that much with my colleagues. Also staff needed to feel that this was a very important part of their training and not feel guilty about working on it in work time. The trainers were very helpful at all times.
I made the mistake of usin Wordpress rather than Blogger which frustrated me very much. I would encourage evryone to use Blogger for the purpose of the training.
I think I will keep blogging to some extent as I did enjoy a l posting some ridiculous things. My blog was actually an Anti Blog. People seemed hell bent on revealing themselves, I was hell bent on doing the opposite- alot of the time anyway.
Personal privacy and security issues worry me a lot but maybe I am Robinson Crusoe.
Over and out
